Nestled in the vibrant heart of Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Gallo Nero is not just an Italian restaurant; it’s a culinary adventure that whispers tales of home-cooked flavors and warm hospitality. This charming establishment, located at Carrer de Jaume I, 3, has quickly become a beloved spot for locals and travelers alike, capturing the essence of Italy in every dish.
The moment you step inside, you are greeted not only by the delightful ambiance but also by a team that embodies the soul of Italian dining. Patrons rave about the inviting staff, with many noting their friendly demeanor and genuine passion for the food. Whether it’s Lorenzo delicately slicing ham for your sandwich or Alessandra serving with a radiant smile, the experience feels personal and memorable.
As for the menu, it is a true testament to traditional Italian cuisine, featuring an exquisite selection of antipasti that sets the stage for what’s to come. From the Ensalada de Burrata—a vibrant mix of arugula, fresh tomatoes, creamy burrata, and pistachio pesto—to the richly flavored Caprese de Bufala that combines bufala mozzarella and avocado, every appetizer is a harmonious blend of taste and texture. These starters not only tantalize the palate but also ignite a longing for more.
For those seeking heartier options, Gallo Nero’s taglieri are a definite must-try. The Tabla Mixta Toscana brings together a delightful selection of cold meats, burrata, and pecorino cheese, making it perfect for sharing. Meanwhile, the Tabla Top showcases grilled pork, roast beef, and ham that leaves diners wanting another round; it’s a celebration of flavors crafted with precision.
And let’s not forget the beverages! Pair your meal with a crisp Moritz Lager to wash down all that deliciousness. This combination adds an authentic touch to the overall experience and embodies Gallo Nero’s commitment to serving high-quality, delectable food paired with excellent drinks.
Gallo Nero truly shines as a hidden gem in Barcelona, where the culinary skills match the passionate service. Each visit promises warmth and satisfaction, making it a perfect choice—whether it’s a cozy dinner after a day of exploring or a late-night snack craving for authentic Italian fare. It's places like Gallo Nero that remind us how food can not only fill the belly but also create lasting memories in a welcoming environment.

Lorenzo slicing the ham and preparing the delicious sandwich and Alessandra serving with a smile, this small restaurant is both charming and magical. Super good food, fantastic people working there. My warmest recommendations!

Chanced upon this place when there was a heavy downpour suddenly and we decided to seek for immediate shelter. The staffs here were very friendly! Special thanks to the female staff (sorry we didn’t get your name) who offer us free cheese. I bet you are very happy with your job and please continue the same way to make more happy customers :)

A Hidden Italian Gem in Barcelona! I visited Gallo Nero during my trip to Barcelona, and it quickly became one of my favorite Italian spots! The cozy, friendly atmosphere. Every dish was a burst of flavor – from the perfectly toasted bruschetta to the delicious sandwiches, everything was made with care and packed with taste. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic Italian with warm hospitality and opens till late night.

Fabulous Italian in the heart of Barcelona. The sandwiches are delicious, don’t miss out on one if you come here. We got the bruschetta, too, and it was wonderful. We even capped off the night with a tiramisu shot from our waiter (thank you!!).

If you’re looking for a little Italian refuge in the middle of Barcelona – this is it! ???????? Delicious food (still dreaming about it…), great music that makes you feel like you should order a second glass of wine, and service that’s so warm and friendly it almost feels like family. Only regret? We found this gem on our last day of vacation… otherwise, they might have had to kick us out at closing time.

This is a very small but quaint restaurant for individual pizzas, specialty sandwiches and a well done charcuterie board, which can be added to for multiple people. The wine is very good but inexpensive and the aperol spritz was very large and extremely reasonable enterprise. The four fomaggi pizza was enough to share and the charcuterie board for one, was filling, made great toppings for the pizza and ethan had some leftover to bring home. This is a good drop in place, great for a party of two and worth coming back.
